Eereźha (ഈരെഴ)
Redefining the Kannur Handloom Thorth
Rooted in tradition and reimagined for the present, this limited edition collection celebrates Eereźha, a heritage handwoven cloth from Kannur. Meaning "double threads," Eeriźha is distinguished by its unique weaving technique: two strands interlaced to create a fabric that is remarkably strong yet breathable. Its airy, loosely woven structure lends a subtle canvas-like texture makes it the perfect base for our Indigo stoles collection. Historically worn unstitched by men and women alike as a bath towel, a wrap around for work, a scarf, or headgear, this versatile textile is an integral part in the everyday life of the common people.
We honor that legacy while redefining its place in contemporary wardrobes. Each piece from the loom is first dyed in evolving shades of natural indigo drifting from the palest sky blues to the depth of midnight. The fabric is then meticulously hand screen printed with large single repeat designs using natural indigo dyes. Because indigo oxidizes rapidly upon exposure to air, printing becomes challenging and can only be done in small, precise batches. Rather than seeing this as a limitation, we embrace it as a as an opportunity to innovate ensuring every stole is inherently unique. This tastefully designed and slowly crafted pieces are not merely utility product, but wearable works of art.
Designed to be draped, layered, cherished, or even framed, each stole is a collectable piece of contemporary design and craftsmanship.
